Dietlikon: Municipality seeks new use for Faisswiesen site
The construction group Implenia does not want to build a new headquarters on the Faisswiesen site in Dietlikon after all. The municipality is therefore looking for a new use for the area next to the train station, which was previously used as a parking lot.
The Dietlikon municipal council has announced that Implenia Schweiz AG will not be pursuing the project for a new headquarters on the Faisswiesen site. For reasons of sustainability and in view of the good public transport connections to the site between Faisswiesenstrasse and Brüttisellerstrasse, Implenia had initially considered a development.
However, a usage analysis showed that the new headquarters would take up a large part of the realizable volume. According to the Dietlikon municipal council, however, a purely office building would only make poor use of the great potential of the approximately 7,600 square meter site. In addition, the general conditions for office buildings on the real estate market have changed significantly in the meantime, which is why Implenia will no longer be pursuing the "New company headquarters on the Faisswiesen site" project.
Municipality wants to continue planning itself
The municipality now wants to press ahead with the development of the area itself. Now that the municipal assembly has approved the acquisition of the properties at Bahnhofstrasse 33 and Bahnhofstrasse 35 in the immediate vicinity of the Faisswiesen site, the project perimeter can be extended to include these properties. In addition, traffic considerations will also be taken into account in the future planning.

Planning for the Faisswiesen site has been ongoing for several years: in 2014, the site was rezoned from a zone for public buildings to a Z3.1 center zone with a design plan obligation, and the municipality developed a target concept for the planning perimeter with the Zurich-based planning office Planar. EBP Schweiz AG was then commissioned by and under the leadership of the municipality to a master plan for the area and the immediate vicinity of the train station in Dietlikon.
