Winterthur municipal council demands restrictive land allocation
Winterthur's municipal council has spoken out in favor of a new municipal land allocation policy. In the future, the city council should no longer be allowed to sell its own land to private parties, writes the newspaper "Der Landbote". Accordingly, in the future only so-called awards in building rights should be possible.
The new regulation would mean that the land would remain the property of the city and could be used by it again after the expiry of a contractual period. The motion of the municipal council on the temporary sale of land was declared urgent and forwarded to the municipal council for implementation. At present, it is still open whether the change in the contracting policy must be written into the municipal code. Should this be the case, the voters of Winterthur would have to decide on this.
The initiators of the motion argue that with the change in the granting of building leases, the city would benefit from regular income. Opponents point out that building leases are already an option in the city's real estate policy. In addition, there is the question of how to deal with inherited burdens and possible additional costs after the expiration of the award period. (mr)
