According to the Steffisburg municipality, the area between the Steffisburg train station, the highway connection to the A6 and the river Zulg is the largest freely available and undeveloped commercial area in the region, with an area of around 39,000 square meters.

According to estimates, the investment volume for Room 5 is likely to be in the high two- or three-digit million range. The goal is to have found investors for Raum 5 in about a year's time, according to the municipality. Institutional investors such as pension funds or insurance companies, Bernese companies and general contractors are targeted.

The Raum5 business park project was launched in June 2014. At that time, in addition to the municipality of Steffisburg, Immer AG and Boss Holzbau AG were on board. However, both Immer AG and Boss Holzbau AG have since withdrawn from the project. The voters of Steffisburg are to vote on the project on February 28, 2016. Possible start of construction is the end of 2017, so that in 2019 the first rooms can be occupied. (ah)
