Steiner presents half-year figures
Steiner Group signed orders worth CHF 629 million in the first six months of the current 2015/2016 financial year. Sales in the period from April 1 to September 30, 2015 reached CHF 347.3 million.
According to the company, the real estate development division has a large portfolio of development projects worth more than CHF 2.5 billion and will continue to make a significant contribution to ensuring a positive business performance, Steiner wrote in a statement.
The Total/General Contracting (TC/GC) business unit had to bear higher project risks in some cases than originally foreseen, which was also reflected in the half-year results. However, the order situation in the renovation business was encouraging. Among other things, orders for the renovation of public-sector buildings in all regions contributed to this, Steiner continued.
On a like-for-like basis, Steiner expects the positive result for the 2015/2016 financial year to be similar to that of the previous year.
The company celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. The company's founder Carl Steiner began in 1915 with a small carpenter's workshop in Oerlikon and over time built his company into one of Switzerland's leading real estate developers, total and general contractors. Steiner's milestones include the Swissair headquarters from the 1960s, the Quai du Seujet in Geneva from 1984, and more recently Sihlcity, SkyKeys and Prime Tower in Zurich, the Maison de la Paix in Geneva and, most recently, the PostParc in Bern.
