Acron sells Steigenberger Hotel in Gstaad

Acron Helvetia II Immobilien AG is selling its investment property, the hotel property Steigenberger Alpenhotel and Spa, Gstaad-Saanen. According to the company, the total proceeds, which consist of the purchase price and a compensation sum from the tenant, amount to CHF 26.26 million and are thus higher than the most recently determined value of the property according to the 2015 half-year report.

The transaction still has to be approved by the AGM and will be completed immediately after the AGM. The company will then also be liquidated. Acron forecasts the distributable liquidation proceeds to be between CHF 80 and CHF 90 per share.

The buyer is the newly founded HUUS Gstaad AG with Günter Weilguni as board of directors and CEO. Weilguni worked at the Steigenberger Gstaad-Saanen from 1990 to 2009. He has managed the Alpine Lodge Gstaad-Saanen since 2009.

Reopening with a new concept

The previous tenant, Steigenberger AG from Zurich, will continue to run the hotel with more than 130 rooms until the end of March 2016. This will be followed by a complete renovation and the reopening in December 2016 as a four-star superior hotel HUUS.

According to local media reports, the new operators want to keep the space concept in principle, but the interior is to be redesigned according to plans by renowned Gothenburg designer Erik Johansson.

The HUUS wants to offer guests a variety of additional services included in the price of the overnight stay, so-called add-ons. For example, the Alpine Center Gstaad will operate a satellite in the HUUS where guests can book one of the offers, such as guided winter hikes, canyoning, trial climbing or mountain bike tours. Furthermore, an official HUUS-owned Swiss ski school will be offered. (ah)
