Basel: Dreispitz to be connected with Merian Gardens

With the development of the Dreispitz area on Basel and Münchenstein soil, green zones and local recreation areas are now also coming into focus. According to local media reports, the commercial, educational and residential area is to have a direct pedestrian footbridge over the railroad to the Merian Gardens.

According to the plans of the Christoph Merian Foundation (CMS), the footbridge is to cross the railroad tracks near the Art Campus, directly from the new buildings to the old tree population. The federal government has included the bridge in the second Basel agglomeration program as an A priority and is contributing CHF 1.7 million to the total costs of around five million. The project includes a level footbridge over the SBB tracks, which are lowered there, as well as a traffic light over the road. (ah)
