Grindelwald: Hotel expansion and new medical center

In the municipality of Grindelwald, several major projects are about to be realized. For example, the long-planned extension of the Hotel Eiger in Dorfstrasse is to be tackled. In addition, the construction of a medical center is planned for this year.

The owners of the Hotel Eiger, the Märkle/Heller family, are planning a partial addition to the existing structures by means of an attic storey on the Eiger II building as well as the construction of the new Eiger III hotel wing on the current parking lot at the rear of the building. A single-story bridge will connect the attic floor with the new buildings II and III as well as the reception.

After the electorate approved the necessary zoning ordinance last year, the Office for Communities and Spatial Planning (AGR) will deal with the project.

The AGR must also approve the "Health Center" development regulations with zoning plan amendment. In order to ensure medical care, the municipality of Grindelwald as landowner, various doctors from Grindelwald and another landowner with MLG Technik AG and Ärztekasse are planning a health center with physiotherapy rooms and primary residences at Spillstatt near the Torrihaus parking lot. The community hopes to be able to start construction this year.

In addition, the conditions for the construction of a multi-storey parking lot and a terminal with valley stations for two cable cars are being created on the former Männlichenbahn parking lot. After final corrections, the Council has approved the development regulations approved in December. (ah)
