Central Switzerland: New partner for Innovation Park Switzerland
The cantons of Central Switzerland have commissioned the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts to conduct site assessments in order to participate in the Swiss Innovation Park federal project.
The nationwide Innovation Park Switzerland location program was launched at the beginning of the year, with which the federal government aims to strengthen Switzerland's competitiveness: The current five locations are in the vicinity of the ETHs of Zurich and Lausanne, as well as in Biel, Basel and Aargau. Central Switzerland has not been considered in the location allocation process so far. This is now to change: To support this, an association called "Innovation Park Central Switzerland" was recently founded, with representatives from the cantons and the business community.
It is important for the region that Central Switzerland can participate in the Innovation Park, explained project leader Andrea Weber Marin, Vice Director and Head of Research at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts to the media: "We're missing out if we're not there." The topic with which Central Switzerland wants to contribute is called "Building Excellence." "We already have a lot of experience in building and energy technology, and with the new Department of Information Technology, digitalization in construction is now being added," says Andrea Weber Marin.
