Biel: Architecture competition for Innovation Park starts
Innocampus AG, the developer and future operator of the Innovation Park Biel/Bienne, has launched an open architectural competition for the new building project.
A new building with around 15,500 square meters of floor space is planned in the immediate vicinity of the Biel train station. The building is scheduled to go into operation in 2019. The project is being tendered by means of a single-stage project competition in an open procedure in accordance with order SIA 142, 2009 edition.
An architecturally and urbanistically convincing solution that meets the spatial and operational requirements of an innovation park is expected, according to a press release from the city of Biel. The economic viability of the project is also a key factor. The results of the competition are expected in January 2017.
The Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne operates a platform for application-oriented research and development in industrial technology. As a joint venture of private companies and public institutions, it aims to support innovation teams, SMEs and start-ups. (ah)
