Aarau: Laying of the foundation stone for construction site 2 in the Aeschbach district

On September 9, the foundation stone was laid for the development on construction site 2 of the Aeschbachquartier in Aarau. Mobimo is the building owner, and the Frutiger Group is the general contractor.

The Aeschbachhalle, a historic industrial building and center of the neighborhood, will be restored over the next two years and expanded with two additions. Four restaurants and a large, open hall section for events are to be created.

Around the Aeschbachhalle, Mobimo is building residential and commercial buildings with a total of 167 rental apartments and 4,600 square meters of commercial space. The first floors of the buildings will be enlivened with around 20 small stores and service providers. The art nouveau Oehler factory owner's villa will house a daycare center.

"We have waited a long time for this beautiful moment," said Mobimo CEO Christoph Caviezel at the laying of the foundation stone. The real estate company bought the first plots on the five-hectare site near the Gais traffic circle in Aarau back in 2002. Plots 3 (industrial area with new Rockwell building) and 1 with the GastroSocial high-rise building have already been built over. Work on site 4, where 92 condominiums are being built, is well advanced. 60 percent of the apartments have already been sold. (ah)
