From the point of view of Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG, the approval of the 8-seater gondola lift is another milestone for the SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun. As Andermatt's gateway to the ski area, this lift is of particular importance. The start of construction represents not only the merger of the ski areas, but also the modernization of the facilities, writes the company in a statement.

On September 26, construction of the gondola lift officially began. The groundbreaking ceremony in Andermatt is also valid for the construction of the Gütsch mountain station, the Oberalpsee pump house and various slopes and snow-making facilities. Depending on the weather, the bottom station will be completed this year.

The bottom station is directly connected to the Andermatt train station by a passenger underpass with a moving walkway, and the ski slope leads directly to the turnstile of the new gondola lift. It is planned to put the new underpass at the station and the 8-seater gondola lift Andermatt - Nätschen - Gütsch into operation for the winter season 2017/18.

The overall project of the Andermatt-Sedrun ski area connection includes the construction of a total of 14 transport facilities, ten of which are in the first stage and four in the second stage. At the same time, the snow-making facilities, slopes and restaurants will also be expanded. (ah)
