Hotels: Meininger Group about to launch in Switzerland?

How the Handelszeitung writes in its current issue, Meininger has established a branch office in Zurich, which includes the company's most senior representatives. According to the newspaper report, Meininger did not provide details, but it is known from earlier statements that Meininger has expansion plans for Switzerland. according to the Handelszeitung.
The Meininger Group is aimed at "urban travelers"; the concept is somewhere between a hostel and a low-budget hotel and also includes unusual features such as a guest kitchen or game zone. As a rule, the houses are located in central inner-city locations and comprise around 200 rooms - from classic double rooms and private shared rooms to beds in dormitories. The target groups are school classes, families, individual travelers, but also business travelers.
Meininger is a subsidiary of Holidaybreak Ltd, a tourism group specializing in educational and active vacations in Europe. The company currently operates 16 hotels in Europe with a total of 7,025 beds in ten European cities. Contracts for eleven new hotels with a total of 6,917 beds - in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Budapest, Heidelberg, Leipzig, Munich, Paris, Rome and Milan - have already been signed, according to Meininger. In Milan, the group is currently converting a former office building with a gross floor area of 7,562 sqm into a hotel. (ah)
