The teams involved are Albert Speer + Partner (Frankfurt), Diener & Diener Architekten (Basel), Hans Kollhoff Architekten (Berlin) and OMA Office for Metropolitan Architecture (Rotterdam). Together with landscape architects, traffic planners and an accompanying committee consisting of representatives of BASF, Novartis, the canton and external experts, the teams are to develop scenarios in a dialog process over the coming months as to how the areas no longer needed as industrial sites can be developed into a mixed-use urban quarter.

In a planning agreement signed in May 2016, the planning partners BASF, Novartis and the canton agreed to develop the approximately 30-hectare site into a new, cohesive piece of the city. Various uses such as living, working, leisure, culture and public facilities are envisaged. In addition to securing work space for the canton, residential development in various segments is planned.

The results from the test planning are to be presented to the public at the second participation event on June 17, 2017. (ah)
