The German hotel group Meininger will open its first hotel in Switzerland in Zurich's Greencity district. The hotel will have around 170 rooms and approximately 600 beds.

Meininger and the total contractor Losinger Marazzi AG have signed a contract to this effect, as both companies announced on November 17. The hotel is to be built in the seven-story "Ingres" building. Ingres, designed by the renowned architectural firm Gigon/Guyer, is part of the cluster of office buildings that mark the entrance to Greencity from the direction of the city center.
Losinger Marazzi plans to submit the building application for the building during the first half of 2017. The hotel could then be opened towards the end of 2019.
The Meininger Group's concept ranges between hostel and low-budget hotel and also includes unusual features such as a guest kitchen or game zone. The houses have classic double rooms, private and shared dormitories.
From Losinger Marazzi's point of view, the hotel will be a great asset for Greencity and will help to revitalize the urban district. The new urban quarter will include 731 apartments, offices, stores, restaurants and public facilities such as an elementary school. Greencity is considered a lighthouse project for the city of Zurich. The site has already been awarded the 2000-watt site certificate twice by the supporting association Energiestadt and has also committed itself to the principles of sustainability with regard to social mix and mobility. The neighborhood is being developed and realized by Losinger Marazzi.
Rumors had already become known in October, according to which the Meininger Group is about to enter the Swiss market. The company had established a branch in Zurich. (ah)
