Wolfgang Behrendt moves to Newport
Wolfgang G. Behrendt MRICS is the new Chief Financial Officer at the partner and management team of Newport Holding GmbH since April 1, 2017.
Newport is a private real estate company that invests as an investor and project developer primarily in retail and commercial properties in Germany, Switzerland and the USA. Investments are made through Newport Holding GmbH in Germany, Newport Swiss AG in Switzerland and Newport US RE LP in the USA. Behrendt will be part of the group's partner board and will be responsible for the future strategic direction, the company says. He will manage the ongoing cross-border activities and be responsible for the development of investment platforms for institutional investors from Germany and Europe in the three target markets of the Newport Group.
Wolfgang Behrendt has "broad management experience in real estate and financing with a focus on strategy, restructuring, value-optimizing asset management, investor servicing, real estate investments and structuring in Europe, the U.S. and Asia," Newport writes. He was previously with UBS AG Asset Management in Zurich, where he served as head of global real estate - EMEA ex CH from May 2016 until the turn of the year. Prior to that, he had worked for Deka Immobilien Investment in Frankfurt/Main since 2007.
