Implenia wins major contract in Stockholm
Implenia Ltd. has been awarded a contract by the Swedish transport authority Trafikverket for the refurbishment of a complex infrastructure project in the center of Stockholm.

Large parts of the railroad infrastructure in the Swedish capital were built in the 1950s and will need to be renewed over the next few years. The renovation section in Stockholm Getingmidjan, which has now been awarded to Implenia, forms the gateway for all trains from the south and is therefore one of the busiest routes in Sweden. The contract is worth around CHF 100 million (SEK 885 million).
As part of the project, the internationally active Swiss construction group is renovating and replacing five railroad bridges and two parallel pedestrian bridges on the approximately two-kilometre-long railroad section. At the same time, the Riddarholm Tunnel with a length of around 120 meters and the Söderström Tunnel with a length of around 600 meters will also be brought up to the current technical standard.
Work will start in summer 2017 and is expected to take around four years, says Fredrik Björckebaum, CEO of Implenia Sweden.
