According to the Sophie and Karl Binding Foundation, the new "Binding Prize for Biodiversity" is intended to honor "pioneering projects and creative solutions in settlement areas" that have brought about a high level of biodiversity.

According to the Basel Foundation, there is great potential for action to promote biodiversity in urban areas and agglomerations. A lot can be done for biodiversity in the planning, construction and maintenance of properties and areas, especially since more biodiversity also means a better quality of life for people in their living and working environment.

Project teams from the fields of planning, construction, maintenance as well as authorities, organizations and interdepartmental project groups can submit their already implemented projects and concepts for the promotion of biodiversity in settlement areas until January 31, 2021. According to the foundation, projects in which different stakeholders have participated and in which innovative, integrative and effective solutions have been developed are particularly desired. The prize money amounts to CHF 100,000. (ah)
