Winterthur: 300 million francs for new campus buildings
The ZHAW is to be given new space on its traditional campus according to designs by Graber Pulver.
The Zurich Cantonal Council has approved a property loan of over CHF 302 million for new buildings for the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) in Winterthur. The funds will be used to realize the first stage of the "Campus T" project. The ZHAW School of Engineering (SoE) is to be concentrated on the site of the former Technikum.
Some of the buildings, such as the laboratory building from 1974, no longer meet current and future requirements. According to an earlier announcement, the additional space required by the SoE was estimated at almost 9,000 square meters of usable space. Two laboratory buildings and a public open space are planned in the first stage.
Designs by the Graber Pulver Architekten AG and Takt Baumanagement AG consortium from Zurich, who won a competition, are to be realized. The core elements are two new six-storey and five-storey laboratory buildings behind the historic technical center. A modular space concept is planned.
