S-chanf: Hotel Scaletta becomes a Reka vacation resort
The renovation of the property in S-chanf (GR) is set to begin next year and will cost CHF 14.7 million.
Reka and the Scaletta S-chanf Foundation have agreed a partnership for the operation of the hotel for at least 20 years. The historic hotel in the center of the Engadine community will be renovated by the foundation from spring 2025 and will open as a Reka facility for guests in winter 2026/2027. The hotel will be geared towards sustainability and create synergies with the two existing Reka vacation resorts in the Engadin.
The historic building was created in the 16th century from two farmhouses and was used as a hotel for 130 years. Scaletta S-chanf, which was founded in 2020, will complete the acquisition as part of a private-public partnership. Once the renovation work is complete, the hotel will have 27 rooms and eight apartments. It is planned to connect the hotel to S-chanf's district heating network, and the choice of materials will be based on local construction methods. The costs for the renovation are estimated at CHF 14.7 million. Reka is contributing "a considerable amount", as it says. Construction is due to start in spring 2025. (aw)
