Green light for Halter project in Ostermundigen
The Ostermundig parliament has approved the zoning ordinance for the Bären site. This now creates the basis for the construction of a 100-meter-high high-rise building on the site directly next to the train station. The 150-million project by Halter AG envisages a mix of uses including a hotel, apartments, offices and stores.

Before construction can begin, the population will probably have to vote on it in November. Another hurdle is the three objections that are pending against the zoning ordinance and on which the canton is expected to make a decision next year. In the best case, construction work can begin in 2017. Then the high-rise would be ready for occupation in 2019 at the earliest. (ah)
