Solothurn sets course for major "Weitblick" project
In the west of Solothurn, some 125,000 square meters of land are to be built over in the next 20 years. As SRF reports, the municipal council unanimously approved the corresponding development concept a few days ago.

The land is owned by the city of Solothurn; it is to be built over in three stages by 2036. In the north, a residential quarter is to be built; in the south, mainly offices and commerce are to be located. A park is planned between the two parts.
In the "Weitblick" quarter, 1,300 people are to live and 1,600 people work in the final development. Now that the city council has voted in favor, the city can develop four of the 13 building sites and start negotiating with investors. If everything goes smoothly, construction can begin in 2018.
