Swiss Life buys in Dortmund
Swiss Life Asset Managers is expanding its real estate portfolio in Germany to include the traditional "Hansakontor" in Dortmund. The seller is the investment company Redevco.
The purchase of the listed building, former headquarters of the RAG Group, was made for the insurance business of Swiss Life Germany. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The transaction was supported by Corpus Sireo Acquisitions and Dr. Radetzki Consult GmbH.
The Hansakontor was built between 1950 and 1952 and was extensively modernized from 2005 to 2007. The representative shell limestone building served for decades as the main administrative headquarters of RAG. On the corner of Silberstrasse and Hansastrasse, it offers 5,443 sqm of practice and office space, all of which is leased on a long-term basis.
Hansakontor's location directly on Hansaplatz - next to the "Markt" the most important square in the city center - is considered an excellent office location in Dortmund's city center. A few meters away is Dortmund's main shopping street Westenhellweg, which is one of the busiest shopping miles in Germany. The immediate neighborhood is characterized by a mix of retail, residential and office uses. (ah)
