Fifa Museum in Zurich officially opened

This coming Sunday (February 28, 2016), the time has come: After two years of construction, the new Fifa Museum opposite Zurich's Enge train station will be officially inaugurated at 12 noon. On three levels with a total of over 3,000 square meters of exhibition space, the world football organization will offer visitors games, fun and souvenirs.

The museum cost a total of 30 million Swiss francs, including a Fifa fan store, sports bar, bistro and banquet hall, as well as an in-house cinema, cafeteria and library. In addition, there is office space on five floors for 140 workplaces as well as 34 exclusive luxury apartments (with sizes between 64 and 125 square meters) in the renovated and revitalized building complex in district 2. The project volume totals 140 million francs. On December 18, 2015, Fifa Museum AG, as the operator of the museum, had taken over the renovated "Haus zur Enge" from the general contractor.

A 40-year lease agreement was concluded with Swiss Life, the owner of the 37-meter-high building with a floor area of around 24,000 square meters, until 2055. Fifa expects around 250,000 visitors a year to the museum on Tessinerplatz. Admission for an adult person costs 24 francs. On display will be more than 1,000 exclusive football exhibits, including a permanent display of the original golden Fifa World Cup trophy in the center of the museum. (mr)
