Bank Sarasin plans new building on Lake Zurich
Bank Sarasin plans to start construction of a new office building on an approximately 8,500-square-meter plot between the Kongresshaus, Tonhalle and Baur au Lac in early summer. The new building, designed by architects Gigon/Guyer, should be ready for occupancy in 2019, according to information from the "Tages-Anzeiger".
An L-shaped building is planned along Gotthardstrasse and Claridenstrasse, enclosing the old Villa Rosau. The bank building will have five floors and provide space for up to 500 employees. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2009, according to a report by the Tages-Anzeiger Accordingly, 125 parking spaces and outbuildings of the Baur au Lac hotel will make way. In addition to office space, the new commercial building will also include a restaurant and two apartments.
Plans for the new building on the private property have existed since 2008, and actually the bank headquarters should have been occupied two years ago. But objections delayed the project. The Building Appeals Court and the Administrative Court of the Canton of Zurich have since rejected the appeal. (ah)
