Malters: Groundbreaking ceremony for center development
On June 2, the groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of construction of "Malters Höfen". In the center of the community, near the train station, a residential and commercial development is being built for CHF 80 million.
In addition to the municipality of Malters, the Basellandschaftliche Pensionskasse (BLPK), the BVG-Stiftung der Marti-Unternehmungen, Marti Invest AG, Adimmo AG and Marti Generalunternehmung AG are involved in the project.
A total of 25,000 square meters of residential and commercial space is being built, including 200 rental and condominium apartments. The project also includes a new municipal administration building, commercial units and 400 parking spaces. Construction work is scheduled for completion in summer 2019.
The planning for the development dates back to 2007, when a competition and a study were carried out. In 2010, the project was presented to the public for viewing at the trade exhibition, followed by rezoning and zoning. In a community vote in 2012, the population of Malters gave the order to pursue the large-scale project with 72 percent approval. (ah)
