New tenant in the new Rosau commercial building in Zurich
The internationally active French reinsurer Scor - instead of the originally planned bank J. Safra Sarasin - will be the anchor tenant in the new Rosau commercial building in a central location in Zurich between the Tonhalle and the Hotel Baur au Lac.
"Scor is very pleased to make a strong commitment to the Zurich location with the long-term lease agreement for the Rosau commercial building" Benjamin Gentsch, Member of the Group Executive Board of Scor SE and CEO of Scor Switzerland AG
The new location of the Scor Group's Swiss ventures will provide space for the approximately 300 employees based in Zurich. Bernd Langer, CEO of Scor's Zurich-Cologne hub, says: "The offices at our current location will be refurbished after 2019, which is why we were looking for modern premises." Currently, Scor's offices are still located at the General-Guisan-Quai 26 property in Zurich.
Benjamin Gentsch, member of the Group Executive Board of Scor SE and CEO of Scor Switzerland AG, explains: "Scor is very pleased to make a strong commitment to Zurich - one of the world's leading centers for reinsurance - with the long-term lease agreement for the Rosau office building. The prominent location and excellent accessibility for both clients and employees were key reasons for our decision."
Originally, Bank J. Safra Sarasin was to move into the planned new building at Zurich's Kongresshaus. On the site, landowner Charles Roulet is planning a five-story L-shaped office building according to the plans of architects Annette Gigon/Mike Guyer and with an investment volume of CHF 110 million. It will have space for around 500 workplaces and will also have a restaurant and two apartments.
Construction work on the new commercial building was supposed to start in 2012, but a neighbor dispute delayed the project. The excavation of the building pit is to take place shortly. The building site on which the new building is to be erected was previously used as a parking lot, among other things. Next door is the listed Villa Rosau, which is to be preserved and the interior extensively renovated. (mr)
