"The Circle": Second leg coming up
The second stage of the major project "The Circle" at Zurich Airport will be started sooner than originally planned. A few days ago, Flughafen Zürich AG and co-owner Swiss Life made a decision to this effect.

Dufry AG was previously secured as an anchor tenant for the "Brands & Dialogue" module; the travel retailer is renting 5,000 sqm. According to those responsible for the project, discussions are underway with "further exciting interested parties". In addition to Dufry, the University Hospital Zurich, the Hyatt hotel chain, the Grieder fashion house, the Swatch Group and Caviar House & Prunier have already been confirmed as tenants.
Since the marketing is going well and the construction work of the first stage is progressing well, it has been decided to trigger the second stage of the building already now, it says in a statement. In this way, both stages can be realized at the same time, and the architecturally striking appearance of Riken Yamamoto will be completed.
Yamamoto's concept envisages creating a place with "The Circle" that functions like a city district - modules are planned with various uses such as work, meetings and congresses, education, health and art as well as shopping and leisure. In total, the leasable area is 180,000 sqm, of which 40,000 sqm is accounted for by the second construction phase. "The Circle" is scheduled to open in 2019. (ah)
