Zurich: Laying of the foundation stone for "Vulcano
On October 27, 2016, the foundation stone was laid for the "Vulcano" project in Zurich-Altstetten. The residential and service complex at Vulkanstrasse 110 will comprise 58,000 square meters of floor space; completion is scheduled for 2018.
CSA Real Estate Switzerland, an investment group of Credit Suisse Investment Foundation, and project developer and total contractor Steiner are realizing the major project in Zurich-Altstetten. Around 300 rental apartments with services will be built in three 80-meter-high towers, and retail and restaurant space as well as Switzerland's first "a-ja City Resort" with 320 hotel rooms will be built in the connecting base building.
Construction work on the approximately 12,000 square meter site in the immediate vicinity of the Altstetten train station has begun and, in addition to the floor slab, a large part of the basement has also been concreted. Currently, the walls of the second floor are being built on the construction site.
The design of "Vulcano" comes from the Parisian architect Dominique Perrault. He says: "The formulation and setting of base and high-rise buildings leads to a convincing presence, strengthens the dynamic urban space in its main flow direction and opens the spatial reference across the Limmat valley."
