Olten: SPS finds anchor tenant for USEGO site

The medical technology company Sensile Medical will move into around 3,200 sqm on the USEGO site in Olten in the middle of the year. This means that Swiss Prime Site AG (SPS) has gained an anchor tenant for the revitalized site.

According to Swiss Prime Site, the owner of the USEGO site, a long-term lease agreement was concluded with Sensile Medical at the end of 2016. The company develops and produces micropumps that enable particularly precise dosing and administration of liquid medicines.

"Due to the many development projects, we are in a rapid build-up phase and need more space for all departments. With the historic site, we have found the perfect premises," says Derek Brandt, CEO of Sensile Medical. The company rents a total of 3,200 sqm of office and laboratory space in the former headquarters of wholesaler USEGO.

The USEGO building, which today characterizes the cityscape and is popularly known as the "Gewerbeschloss", was built in 1923 by the architect Fritz von Niederhäusern and served the trading company for several decades as its headquarters and logistics center. Its central location made it possible to efficiently supply goods to up to 4,000 stores throughout Switzerland. In addition to administration and warehousing, it also housed a coffee roasting plant and various spice mills.

Swiss Prime Site acquired the site at the end of 2009 and extensively revitalized it. It covers a site area of around 18,200 sqm and, according to Swiss Prime Site, still offers great potential for redensification and various uses. As Peter Lehmann, CIO of Swiss Prime Site, says, the company is "making great strides towards full occupancy in the near future".
