Solothurn: VillageOffice opens coworking space
VillageOffice opened a coworking space in the Uferbau Solothurn on 8 June. The cooperative wants to build a nationwide network.
The new coworking space in the Uferbau offers 36 workstations and three meeting rooms. The flagship is part of the network of local coworking spaces that the cooperative is building up across Switzerland, VillageOffice says.
The cooperative is building a nationwide network of local coworking spaces that can be reached from the place of residence within 15 minutes by public transport or bicycle. The coworking space in Uferbau-West is a cooperation between the cooperative VillageOffice and the local cooperative VillageOffice Uferbau. The project is supported by Vitra, In2, Sichtfeld, Ubicon, Büropunkt, the Economic Development Agency of the Canton of Solothurn and Uferbau.
"Instead of commuting to Zurich every morning in overcrowded trains, people can set up shop in the coworking Uferbau Solothurn and save valuable travel time in this way. This increases the quality of life," says Guido Kummer of Ballenhaus AG, co-initiator of the project. At the opening, Sarah Koch, Head of Economic Development Canton Solothurn, emphasised the
importance of offers in the area of modern forms of work for the attractiveness of the location. This is a significant development, for example, when considering the compatibility of work and family.
