The US Department of Justice published a criminal complaint against Vladislav Osipov last Friday, January 20, 2023.The 51-year-old subsequently announced his immediate resignation from the Board of Directors of Züblin Immobilien Holding in order to avoid any reputational damage to the company, the company writes in an ad hoc release. Züblin is not involved in these proceedings, it said. Osipov cannot comment on the ongoing proceedings, but will "defend himself with all legal means at his disposal," the release continues.

According to the press release of the US Department of Justice, Osipov is accused of aiding and abetting the evasion of sanctions and money laundering. The acts are allegedly related to the luxury yacht owned by Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg. U.S. sanctions were imposed on Vekselberg in April 2018. Osipov and another defendant are accused of concealing Vekselberg's ownership of the vessel. Osipov allegedly designed a complicated structure of shell companies for this purpose.

Vekselberg holds 41.65 percent of Züblin through his Panama-based Lamesa Holding. He is on a list of sanctioned persons in the USA because of his proximity to Russian President Vladimir Putin. (ah)
