ZKB headquarters reopened
Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB) has now reopened its headquarters at Bahnhofstrasse 9 in Zurich after a four-year modernization and renovation phase. The investment volume has amounted to around CHF 200 million.
The centerpiece of the conversion was the redesigned customer hall. It is no longer accessible only from Bahnhofstrasse, but also from Talstrasse running parallel and from Börsenstrasse. The inner courtyards were opened up to form a new public zone accessible from Bahnhofstrasse and Paradeplatz. The listed facade from the 1960s received a refresh with energy-saving glazing. Materials from the region were used in the interior. The skylight ceiling was raised. The well-known, listed spiral staircase was retained. The renovated headquarters was awarded the MINERGIE certificate.
In addition to the bank branch, the refurbished building complex includes the "Büro Züri" and the "Kafi Züri". The premises are open to the public and have their own market presence, independent of the bank. Büro Züri offers the Zurich population twenty free, multifunctional workstations for temporary use - including a separate workshop room for six people. The Kafi Züri offers sixty indoor and forty outdoor seats. It is run by Migros Catering Services on behalf of Zürcher Kantonalbank.
