Start of construction for cooperative apartments in Greencity

Today, Thursday, the start of construction for 235 cooperative apartments was celebrated in Zurich's Greencity. Three residential buildings are being built in the first construction phase on the former Sihl-Manegg industrial wasteland in Zurich South under the management of project developer and total contractor Losinger Marazzi.

The GBMZ, Hofgarten (geho) and WOGENO Zürich cooperatives and the Stiftung Wohnungen für kinderreiche Familien are building housing for different lifestyles on three construction sites. There will be 2.5- to 6.5-room apartments, family apartments, common rooms, a daycare center and commercial space. The cooperative apartments are expected to be ready for occupancy in 2017, according to earlier information. Losinger Marazzi plans to complete the Greencity neighborhood in stages through 2019. It comprises eight residential buildings with 85,400 sqm of total floor space (GNF) for a total of 740 apartments, a school building, and four office buildings including a hotel and numerous retail spaces with 71,000 sqm of GNF. Greencity is the first neighborhood in Zurich to be aligned with the principles of the 2,000-watt society. (ah)
