Hardturm Stadium: Unusual conditions for investor competition

The "Tages-Anzeiger" reports an unusual condition in the investor competition for Zurich's Hardturm Stadium. Whoever wins the bid is to provide financial support for the two soccer clubs.

In September, the city of Zurich published its Conditions for the competition for the development of the Hardturm site submitted. Now a paper has become known that is attached to the competition regulations of the Finance Department. In it, the presidents of the two football clubs FCZ and GC formulate their expectations of a stadium investor - among other things, they want the winner of the investor competition to provide an annual operating subsidy of CHF 1.5 million each until the new stadium is occupied, reports the Tages-Anzeiger.

With an estimated five to six years that could pass after the competition decision planned for June 2016 until the stadium is built and ready for occupancy, the subsidies would add up to CHF 18 million. The clubs justify their desire for financial support simply by citing their precarious financial situation. (ah)
