Zurich: No McDonald's at Schaffhauserplatz after all
The fast food chain McDonald's will not open a new branch at Schaffhauserplatz after all. The restaurant will not be realized for "technical reasons," according to local media.
It is true that the building decision for the location at Weinbergstrasse 161 near Schaffhauserplatz had already been granted. But the conversion of the property from an office building to a restaurant business had proved to be very complex, so that McDonald's had decided to terminate the lease.
Meanwhile, the company will open a new fast food restaurant on two floors at Löwenstrasse 53 near the main train station in Zurich. McDonald's is also expanding into Bern's PostParc and Murten in the next three months. (ah)
