Dunkin' Donuts opens first store in Switzerland
On Tuesday (March 1), the first branch of the international Dunkin' Donuts chain opened at Greifengasse 17 in Basel. Further locations in this country are in preparation.

According to media reports, the exclusive licensee in Switzerland is Sebastian Homann, who is just 22 years old. The Basel donut store in Kleinbasel on the right bank of the Rhine near the Volkshaus offers 19 different donut creations, including the exclusive "Swiss Flag Heart Donut," a heart-shaped pastry with a Swiss cross.
Homann and PRS Restaurants AG are now planning further stores in Switzerland. The requirements envisage high-frequency locations with 15,000 passers-by per day. The focus is on prime city center locations, but also airports, train stations and shopping centers. The ground-level stores are to offer around 35 to 120 square meters of space plus at least five meters of window frontage and around 25 square meters of ancillary space.
The Dunkin' Donuts chain currently has over 11,000 stores in 35 countries worldwide. The first Dunkin' Donuts restaurant was opened in 1948 by Bill Rosenberg in Quincy, Massachusetts, USA. (mr)
