Zurich: Bahnhofstrasse increasingly in the hands of institutional investors
35 of the 114 properties on Zurich's Bahnhofstrasse are currently owned by institutional investors, reports the "NZZ am Sonntag". Private owners are increasingly parting with their properties on the coveted shopping mile, and because of the high purchase prices, private investors would have few chances against the professional investors in the bidding war.
Swiss Life recently acquired the traditional Franz-Carl-Weber-Haus at Bahnhofstrasse 62. The insurer now holds eight properties on the prestigious shopping street directly and through a fund, making it the largest homeowner there, reports the NZZ on Sunday.
According to a survey by the newspaper, Swiss Life owns the properties with the house numbers 13/17 (tenants include Rolex/Bucherer), 48 (Omega), 62 (Franz Carl Weber), 67 (Confiserie Sprüngli), 75/79 (Manor, Marionnaud), 98/100 (Götte Optik, Yves Rocher), 102 (Yooji's) and 104 (Dosenbach).
Swiss Prime Site owns the properties with the house numbers 42 (Prada), 69 (Navyboot) and 106 (Läderach Chocolatier).
PSP Swiss Property owns the Jelmoli building, Bahnhofstrasse 10 (Dolce & Gabbana ), 28a (Hermès), 39 (Chanel, Hugo Boss), 66 (Zara) and 81 (Ochsner Sport).
Credit Suisse owns Bahnhofstrasse 25/27 (including Armani, Bulgari), 28 (including Türler watches), 31 (Beyer Chronometrie) and 32 (Tod's, Jaeger-Le Coultre). (ah)
