As announced by the city of Zurich, Untere Höschgasse west of Bellerivestrasse will become an encounter zone. In the future, it will serve as a point of arrival in the new museum district. Additional paths will improve access to the buildings. In addition, coordinated seating elements and uniform lighting will be installed throughout the Untere Höschgasse area. The transformation will take place in stages beginning in 2017, along with building and street repairs. The work is expected to be completed in 2020.
The Le Corbusier Pavilion, a listed building, is to undergo extensive renovation between fall 2017 and spring 2019. The overall project will cost CHF 5.4 million, including furnishings, environmental work and reserves.
The city wants to decide on the future use of the Bellerive Museum at the end of 2016. The city is currently examining new uses for Villa Egli. The most recent plan was to set up a hotel and restaurant there; however, the city abandoned this project for the time being for financial and monument preservation reasons.
The Atelier Hermann Haller is to continue operating as before. For the operation of the Pavillon Le Corbusier from 2019, the city is looking for a private sponsorship and is expected to issue a corresponding tender in mid-2017. (ah)
