Zurich: PWG builds in Leimbach
The groundbreaking ceremony for a residential building of the PWG Foundation in Zurich-Leimbach took place at the beginning of July. The new building with 14 affordable apartments complements the foundation's existing houses, which will receive a new facade, new insulation and new balconies.
The new building will be built onto an existing property of the PWG Foundation. In the course of the extension, the older property from 1975 will be partially renovated. The construction costs amount to CHF 12.85 million.
Appeals had delayed the construction of the seven-story residential building at Sihlweidstrasse 26 since 2012. The project competition had already been held in 2011, which Guignard & Saner Architekten won.
The PWG Foundation has been promoting affordable residential and commercial space in the city of Zurich for over 25 years and now holds 136 properties in its portfolio. According to its own information, the rents of the PWG Foundation are on average one third lower than the market level. (ah)
