Zurich: New Director for the Urban Planning Office
The Zurich City Council has elected architect Katrin Gügler as the new director of the Office of Urban Development. She will take office on April 1, 2017.

Katrin Gügler (51) succeeds Patrick Gmür, who will leave the Office of Urban Planning at the end of September 2016. Until the new director takes up her post, Pascal Hunkeler will lead the Office of Urban Development as a member of the Executive Board and Deputy Director.
Gügler studied architecture at the ETH in Zurich and then worked for Morger & Degelo Architekten in Basel. In the 1990s, she set up her own business and was responsible, among other things, for the conversion and new construction of Grindelwald Youth Hostel.
From 1993 to 2001, she acted as design and diploma assistant at the ETH Zurich under Prof. Wolfgang Schett, before working as project manager and area manager at the Zurich Urban Planning Office from 2001 to 2007. Since 2007 she worked as a member of the management team at the Office for Urban Development of Winterthur. First she acted as co-head of urban design, then she took over the management of the development department. For the past two years, she has headed Building Department 2. (ah)
