In October, Aldi plans to open a branch at Zollstrasse 58, between the main train station and Langstrasse, local media report. Just a few meters away, at Zollstrasse 42, a 330-square-meter Coop is also planned to open in October.

Both Aldi and Coop consider the location on Zollstrasse, which is actually not very busy, to be ideal because there are many jobs in the immediate vicinity and many people pass by the stores on their way to or from the main train station. The retailers also adjust their product ranges accordingly; they focus primarily on fresh and convenience products.

According to the media report, Aldi is planning to further increase the density of its branch network in Zurich: next year, another branch is to be opened in Kreis 9. (ah)
