Zurich: Start of construction for "Am Glattbogen" housing development
On October 25, 2016, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the replacement building of the "Am Glattbogen" housing estate in Zurich-Schwamendingen. The client is ASIG Wohngenossenschaft, and Implenia is realizing the project, which is being built according to plans by pool Architekten.
In the eastern part of the Glattbogen, 229 apartments will be built. They will replace 115 existing residential units that no longer meet today's standards. The new four- and seven-story buildings will be constructed according to Minergie standards. As a result of the densification, residents will have more living space per square meter of floor space in the future. In addition to rental apartments, the new building will house a double kindergarten, a large community room and around 400 square meters of commercial space.
The demolition work on the old superstructure is nearing completion. After that, the excavation work will be carried out so that the master builder work can start in January 2017. The first apartments should be ready for occupancy in summer 2018.
The project is part of ASIG's overall renewal strategy for the Dreispitz neighborhood. (ah)
