Zurich: SBB plans superstructure near Letzipark
In Zurich-Altstetten, on the site between Flurstrasse and Duttweilerbrücke, SBB is planning a development with apartments and commercial space on the first floor. Armon Semadeni Architekten from Zurich emerged as the winner of the project competition with the "Tati" project.

The "Tati" project impressed the jury with its successful urban architecture, which integrates well into the surroundings and optimally links the neighboring Letzibach D project of the city of Zurich with the planned development on the Werkstadt site, SBB wrote in a statement.
Spread over two buildings and a base building, a total of 157 rental apartments in the mid-price segment are being built on more than 14,000 square meters. Commercial uses are planned for the first floor. The outdoor space will be equipped with seating and thus invite people to linger. The hall from 1907, which is worthy of protection and is located on the site, will be integrated into the project.
The preliminary project for the Letzi residential building will start in February 2017, with construction scheduled to begin in 2020. SBB is investing around CHF 67 million in the new development.
A number of major projects are being built in the area between Altstetten station and Letzipark: On the opposite side of Hohlstrasse, architects Gigon Guyer are building another high-rise for Mobimo on the Labitzke site, and affordable apartments are being built by the City of Zurich and two foundations directly next to Semadeni's Letzi high-rises. In the medium term, the SBB sites in the city center between Hohlstrasse and Gleisfeld will also be built over. (ah)
