The municipality of Menziken (AG) issued the building permit for the conversion of the former factory into a data center in mid-January. In the "swissdatahall", according to a report by the Aargauer newspaper house up to 1,400 mainframes and provide customers with IT infrastructure.

To this end, Hiag Data now wants to completely gut the interior of the former aluminum hall. This will create around 4,400 square meters of space for approximately 1,400 server cabinets. The historic facade of the office wing will be restored. In the old Alu-Menziken office building, Hiag Data is planning workstations that can be rented out to companies that use its services, for example.

Hiag Data was founded in the previous year as a wholly owned subsidiary of Hiag Immobilien Holding AG. In addition to Menziken, Zurich, Biberist and Lugano are the anchor locations where a platform is being built consisting of a carrier-independent fiber-optic network throughout Switzerland. In addition, the platform includes an IT infrastructure that enables flexible scaling of computing and storage capacity.
