Lucerne: City architect Pfromm leaves
Lucerne's city architect Friederike Pfromm has left the city administration at the end of January 2017. There were different opinions about the way of management, informs the city of Lucerne.
Friederike Pfromm was Head of the Real Estate Department of the City of Lucerne since November 2012 and serves as President of the eco-bau association, which promotes sustainable and healthy construction.
During her four and a half years as city architect, Fromm developed, among other things, a standard procedure for the utilization of urban sites in Lucerne. Under her leadership, the Industriestrasse site was handed over to a cooperation of five housing cooperatives in a participatory process. In addition, it developed a procedure for the sale of the Pilatusplatz site in order to attract value-creating companies to the urban area.
Differences of opinion on how to conduct business had led to the termination of the employment relationship by mutual consent, the city of Lucerne announced. City Councilor Manuela Jost, Director of Construction, thanked Pfromm for her great commitment to the City of Lucerne. The position of head of real estate will be advertised. Walter Brun, Chief of Staff of the Construction Directorate, will take over as Head of the Real Estate Department on an interim basis.
