Dispute over tourism project "The Myrrh" continues
The dispute over the large-scale project "The Myrrhen" goes into the next round. The developers' association is taking the decision on the building permit to the administrative court.

The development consortium "The Myrrhen", consisting of the Schilthornbahn as landowner of parcel 6023, Steiner AG as total contractor and MHBD Swiss Resorts Development & Management as operator, is not backing down. It has filed an administrative court appeal against the decision of the Construction, Transport and Energy Directorate (BVE) of the Canton of Bern. In January, the BVE had approved an appeal against the new construction of the apartment hotel in Mürren and did not grant the project a building permit.
The project "The Myrrhen" violated the requirements of the municipal building regulations and was insufficiently integrated into the local and landscape image, it was stated in the building assessment decision of January 9, 2017. The BVE had thus revoked the building permit granted by the Interlaken-Oberhasli district governor's office in the first instance on May 19, 2016.
The initiators confirm in a media release that they are sticking to their intention of realizing a project with qualified tourist apartments in Mürren. From their point of view, the architecture of the winning project by Brügger Architekten from Thun fits "harmoniously into the village". The project comprises around 70 serviced apartments distributed over four chalets.
"The Myrrhen" has a long history: Already in 2010, the project development was started. Following the cantonal approval of ZPP No. 44 "Apartment Hotel Mürren", a competition was launched in 2013. From the perspective of the developer community, "The Myrrhen" will attract additional guests to Mürren and ensure that new and existing offers and infrastructures are better utilized.
