Parliament has approved the zoning plan amendments for the Rappentöri and Zentrum Köniz Nord areas. The final word now lies with the electorate, which can vote on the building projects in May.

In the Rappentöri area, a new replacement building is planned for the old Coop building. The property in the center of Köniz is to make way for a new development with a store, reports The Covenant. In addition, there are plans to clear the Sulgenbach in the area of the settlement, for this the municipality wants to give land in building rights. According to the newspaper report, construction could start in 2018.

The second proposal, Zentrum Köniz Nord, is intended to enable more urban construction around the train station. As The Covenant writes, a high-rise building could be erected on the parking lot near the Otto's shopping center. In the first stage of construction, however, a five-story superstructure will be built at the former industrial hall of the timber construction company Mosimann.
