The hotel in Basel's Messeturm will be operated under the Hyperion Hotels brand in the future. It is the first property of the premium hotel brand in Switzerland.

Until now, the four-star hotel in the Messeturm has been operating under the name Ramada Plaza Basel Hotel & Conference Center. The change of name is part of the strategic realignment of the operating company H-Hotels, the company says.

From July 2017, the hotel in the high-rise building will be modernized; among other things, the public areas on the first floor will be remodeled. For example, the introduction of a new bar concept and a business lounge is planned. On the floors, a complete renovation of the guest rooms will take place. The work is to be completed by the end of September.

The owner of the Messeturm is Swiss Prime Site AG. They see the reflagging of the hotel as a fitting response to the market needs of Basel, Switzerland's most important trade fair location: "We are extremely pleased that we can substantially extend our successful cooperation with the H-Hotels Group," says Anastasius Tschopp, Head Portfolio Management at Swiss Prime Site.

The 105 meter high skyscraper at the exhibition center is now considered a landmark of the city. It was designed by the well-known architects Meinrad Morger and Heinrich Degelo from Basel and Daniele Marques from Lucerne.

The H-Hotels Group, headquartered in Bad Arolsen, Hesse, and with locations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, is one of the largest hotel operators in Germany, according to its own information. The family-run group of companies with over 3,000 employees includes the brands Hyperion, H4 Hotels, H+ Hotels, H2 Hotels and H.ostels.
