BGO's new replacement building will be located at Winterthurerstrasse 89-123, where the current "Untere Winterthurerstrasse" housing estate is located. The architectural competition was won by Stephan Achermann and Daniel Abraha from Zurich with their "Jim Knopf" project. The architects envisage two long, narrow structures. The building will be structured, among other things with bay windows, so that the new building visually recedes on the upper floors and fits into the row of five-story buildings of the Riedtli settlement.

The new replacement building will offer around 120 apartments, of which a good half will be 3- to 3.5-room apartments. In addition, a smaller number of 2- and 2.5-room apartments are planned, as well as large family apartments. The roof will have a communal terrace. On the first floor along Winterthurerstrasse, there will be space for commercial activities, a crèche and the cooperative's offices.

The replacement building of the BGO is to be realized with the start of construction in 2020. Its construction costs are currently estimated at around CHF 80 million.
