Thun: Overdevelopment planned in Gwatt
Next to the Hoffmann Neopac AG site on Eisenbahnstrasse in Thun, a development with apartments and a center for living in old age is to be built.

In order to make use of the currently unused area of 37,500 sqm, Hoffmann Neopac, together with the city of Thun and Frutiger AG, announced an architectural competition last year. The winning design was submitted by the architectural firm Husistein & Partner from Aarau.
In addition to a residential development with around 180 apartments, it includes a retirement home with 104 nursing places and 50 retirement apartments. The retirement home is to be operated by the Stiftung Wohnen im Alter (WiA).
Because the site is currently located in the work zone, a development ordinance with zone plan amendment is required to implement the project. These documents are now available for public consultation. If everything goes as planned, the legally valid planning will be available in mid-2018. A building permit procedure will then be carried out for the construction project.
